Beta Brandt Burns Big Boys!

April 14th, 2008

Can you believe someone is making a post to this website? Could it be Brian Butler? Naw, probably not. This article must be penned by a secret writer who has unknowningly commonderred the site from the original host...That being the case, here is a quick recap of Sunday and the National Hare Scramble at Lake Shasta...

Lucky for the racers, the club decided to do an 8am start before the seering heat gained much mid day momentum to melt the riders. Not using last years "row" start, the club went back to a mass start in the big dirt area on the side of the pavememnt. Beta mounted Dan-o-myte pulled a top 5 start and quickly worked himself into the lead aboard his Beta 525RR racing machine. In tow were Yamaha YZ450 Mounted Brian Garrahan and some WORCS guys along with most of District 36's finest giving chase.

The new and improved course featured a shorter loop and much more single track and fun technical trails. Although dry and dusty, the course sounded to be a great improvement from years past.

After the first lap, Beta Brandt had about a 2 minute lead that he continued to stretch to about 5 minutes by the finish. Looks like Dan was blazing around the course and heating up Shasta before the infamous Redding heat could...

Some might say that makes for a nice helping of good Karma from last years race where bike problems derailed what looked sure to be a victory. However, delaying the win for a year at a National was probably worth it!

In the end Dan won over Brian G. and a WORCS guy. Don't know anything else at this point, but that's your Monday Jist.

Bite Me...or one of these treats...

February 20th, 2008

Yeah, sorry loyal followers that the website sucks as of late. You can blame my job for that. However, the day I become independently wealthy is the day we see some real improvements here! *NOTE* I wouldn't expect that anytime soon...

I thought it might be interesting to go through the list of receipts from our cross country road trip a few weeks back. We tried not to double up on any particular delicacy, however in some instance it was inevitable. Therefore, if you want to become a racing superstar, I would advise something along the following guidelines:

Wendy's - Lunch - Hmmm, the BACONATOR! Thanks MIKE!
Applebee's - Dinner - Decent
Burger King - Lunch - SCARIEST BK I've EVER BEEN IT!! GET ME OUTTA HERE!
Applebee's - Dinner - At least you know what you get for dinner here.
McDonalds - Breakfast, this makes you run rich...
Jack in the Box - Lunch - Probably the BEST DOLLAR MENU AROUND!
Subway - Lunch - Hard to beat their chicken sandwhich for a healthy lifesylte!
Arbys - Dinner - More scary service! Believe the shirt, Bakersfield SUCKS!

Take that list to your personal trainer! Jillian Michaels, eat your heart out!

Tid Bits...

February 10th, 2008

More to come, but here are the tid bits...

Top 3
Brian Garrahan
Ryan Powell
Gary Gragg

Dan-O-myte was leading...just killing it. But then a rock killed his rear brake pedal and slowed his progress. After an eternity in the pits a brake pedeal miraculoulsy appeared and he still rode to 12th...just in front of me.

There were a lot of Pros...like 25 or 30 I think.

BadBrad800 KILLED IT! He rode to 4th place on his bigbadbrad800bazuki!!! He would like to thank his wife for some workout that he claims his wife showed him that would quote "Kill him in a hotel room" hmmmm....

Sir Thomason was RIPPING! He had the big five two five PINNED!!

Russ would have shredded this course to bits if he was able to race.

Sidi Boots Rule!

February 6th, 2008

This is a blatant product plug for one of my sponsors, so only read on if you are in search of a pair of the best dirt scooterin' boots on the planet! Let's just say that the SIDI SRS's are an INCREDIBLE pair of boots for a number of reasons:
1. No break in. Due to the hinge, these suckers are race ready. First ride. No awkaward break in period, no fumbling around and tipping over in corners because you can't feel your pegs, no BS, they just work straight outta the box!
2. Excellent support! I have bad ankles and the snug fit of these boots feels like my ankles are wrapped up tight. The fit is snug and comfortable...a hard feat to pull off without being uncomfortable.
3. Sizing...another difficult compromise with some companies...Side does 1/2 sizes so if you are like me, you can go 11.5 and get the PERFECT fit without going too small or too big.
4. Durability...I'm still testing this, but my first pair seem to be withstanding a good deal of Clear Creeking and general riding without problems. Dan-O-Myte claims a solid year out of them.
5. If I have to be critical, I will say that if you are used to boots with a steel toe cap, you might miss some shifts because the way the replaceable sole system on this boot works, but you get used to that pretty quickly. Or you can just go to the other boot Sidi offers and then you have the toe cap. I'm sure it's just as good but I haven't tried it yet.

That's it for now. Until next time, sorry for the infrequent posts I am working like a dog, not riding and generally in a bad mood because of it. Look forward to seeing everyone at Clear Creek and I just hope to be able to ride for 3 hours without puking at this point...

Thunderhill!

January 31st, 2008

So I am not sure if I am going to make it to Thunderhill this weekend. But, I heard that the Suzuki boys are out...something about more testing I guess. Hmmmm, maybe they should have bought a Beta!!! :)

With them boys out, I guess it really opens things up for the District guys, so it should be a wild event. Like I said, not sure if I will be there, but if you are going, have fun, be safe, and pin it!
